Building a luxury brand

Cabinetworks has grown over the last 5 years into SA’s premium cabinetmaker, designing and building livingspaces for an elite clientelle. 28 stars was tasked with refreshing and strengthening their brand to reflect this growth and luxury offering. 

We partnered with Cabinetworks to create the full brand experience from brand identity, strategy, content, photography, website, user experience, advertising and more.

Capturing luxurious living

A full media library was created, we captured the luxurious livingspaces designed and built by Cabinetworks, shooting over 10 locations and capturing over 250 images.

By combining rich immersive imagery with a seamless user experience we where able to strengthen the brands premium offering.

Cabinetworks was founded in 1994 by world renowned mountaineer Andy DeKlerk. He has always brought this unique history and passion for nature into the business and it has become part of the brand DNA – we told this story by using actual images from his historic climbs and weaving them into a rich story of commitment to nature and to perfection in everything that the company does.

LeFemme Network is an organisation aimed at uniting women in 3rd world countries to help fight fisheries crime.

We created a highly recognsiable brand identity that combines very simple geometric shapes to represent a network and a fish. The shape is a powerful yet simple icon that is easily interpreted across countries and cultures.

Black Major is the preeminent independent music agency in South Africa, representing cutting edge, left of centre artists with global appeal.

We designed a user experience that communicates the dynamism and scope of their accomplishments and engages with their highly active, fast moving audience. An entire new web presence, with full social media engagement, and booking integration to facilitate and support up-to-the-minute interaction with clients and audience.

Notable UX features

With a responsive design, the new site ensures that visitors can access the same content and functionality across desktop, tablet and mobile devices. Designed to work like an app the site makes it easy to find content, watch videos and book events. Bold use of the Black Major brand colours creates a powerful instantly recognisable branded platform .

The brief was to position Grolsch in the hearts of South Africans as a creative brand with a difference. 

The swingtop circle 

A group of brand ambassadors that embodied the ‘maverick’ spirit of the brand, active countrywide on location in outlets and events growing brand awareness and creating engagement. This brand activation was so successful locally that it was rolled out globally by Grolsch.

Bringing the maverick spirit to life

Campaigns and activations included competitions that told the story of the maverick spirit, a tasting kit and integrated advertising.

Bringing the unique natural beauty of the park to life online

The iSimangaliso Wetland Park was listed as South Africa’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site in December 1999 in recognition of its superlative natural beauty and unique global values. 28 Stars was tasked with a complete renewal of their online user experience and bringing the magic of this unique wetland park to life.

What we did

We created a powerful immersive online experience that focuses on the incredible imagery from the park, bringing to life the rich diversity of the region in bright colours and full screen visuals. The navigation was simplified, and the park’s facilities easily organised by location and colour to enhance the user experience and increase ease of use of the site.
The content management system catalogues and cross references activities, accommodation and events with the park’s ten ‘jewels’.

UX challenge

The park is divided into 10 different regions and within each region are hundreds of different offerings and activities. We created the 10 Jewels of Isimangaliso, a point from which users can navigate their way around these key regions of the park. 

A powerful immersive visual experience 

We used commissioned photography to tell the story of this magnificent wetlands park online. The user journey is guided by these  visuals as they explore the culture and natural beauty of the park.
